The school board selected Christine Stead to fill the seat of Adam Hollier, who resigned on February 12, 2010. Stead's term will expire December 31, 2010. Applicants were interviewed by the current board on March 8 and the appointment was announced on March 10. [1]
Hollier had withdrawn from the 2009 school board race for family reasons, but filed the paperwork too late to be removed from the ballot. He was elected and opted to serve. It is not clear why he resigned in February.
In November 2009, long-time board member Helen Gates-Bryant resigned and was replaced by Simone Lightfoot.
